Book
Manuel Montero has magnificent musical training studying classical guitar, even though he began because of his love for flamenco music. This has made him a great guitarist in both specialties, gaining recognition here in Spain, and in all fields where the guitar and its difficulties are well known, even more, when the goal is to achieve the highest level. After reading and listening to this didactic and artistic work, an extraordinary method for the flamenco guitar which I also think could be used for the classic one, I sincerely advise its thorough studio to all those who want to have a good technic because Manuel has fully designed a path to dominate great part of the difficult art of performing the flamenco guitar.

One of the expressions of the guitar that more interest generates all over the world is the one we found in the art of flamenco, more academies, conservatories, and even universities are getting interested in its teaching. In spite of this, the level of current education is far below from its artistic development, there are several reasons for this to happen and some of them quite an image of the culture where this art was born but in my opinion, the key factor is its oral tradition base, different stances appear and debate without coming, at least up to now, to a point of agreement. For example, there`s a position that stands that the idea of having flamenco being taught in a formal way such as classical music or jazz is simply “unreal” and the other considers this mentality as a delay in the development of this art, clearly we can see how complex the situation becomes.
In a general way, the art of flamenco is in an exciting process of development and pedagogic creation where there is much done already but remains, even more, to be accomplished, being all this the main reason of this book, evidently I am not trying to solve entirely what was previously exposed but I hope it becomes at least a humble contribution to a concrete area, the study material.
